If it is your first time to write a formal business letter, it can seem like a daunting task. A lot of us do not even know how to write casual letters anymore, what with email, SMS, Instant Messaging and all of the things that make communication easier and faster, who needs letters, right? Wrong. Though it may be more convenient to go through electronic means to send a message, the fact is, documentation, and thus, letters, are still a very important part of business. So let us help you write a formal business letter with some letter writing tips. The first thing to do is to is organize your information.

Make sure that you first get all the things you want to say grouped according to type and importance. There is simply nothing worse than business letter writing that looks discombobulated and reads like a maze. Once you get the information that you need to get across, it will be easy to write them in. Include bullet points or charts to work in a lot of information into as little space as possible. This way, your reader will make sense of your letter and keep reading. Next, keep in mind that this is a formal letter. This statement doesn’t mean that you have to sound like an automaton, it just means that you have to remember to spell out your words, keep a formal and polite tone and be mindful of your grammar. Spell check and reread your message over and over.
