Whether you are just starting out as a photographer or have extensive experience in the field, you know for sure the need to have a tangible set of your work that you can display or show to land assignments. This collection of work is called a portfolio. A portfolio must showcase your creative work to prospective employers, enough so to give them a preview of what you can offer them. Many people believe that photography is an art. Being such, it should be held in high regard and be treated as a passion even when one stands to earn money from it. Therefore, your collection of creative work must reflect your taste and personality as a photographer.

Photographers vary in specialization. Discover your niche. Doing this gives you better focus on what photos to include and what you can discard. While you might have amassed a huge number of photographs over the years of your study or practice, you might want to just pick out the best ones and hopefully those that showcase the photograph categories you specialize in. Well-organized photography portfolios are those that naturally unfold from one page to the next, giving the viewer an aesthetic experience. Such is the art of not just photography itself but of compiling your best works ever. Your photos could fall under glamour photography, macro shots, fashion, portrait, landscape and the like. Of course, you should not limit yourself with one just category. A number of photographers actually specialize in more than just one type.
